Important
- Legislation regarding the extension of unemployment insurance benefits has been passed by Congress and signed into law by the President. This legislation provides for eligibility retroactive to June 2, 2010 and extends access to EUC (Emergency Unemployment Compensation) and EB (Extended Benefits) through November 30, 2010. The legislation does not provide any additional weeks or tiers to the current maximum of up to 99 weeks of unemployment insurance benefits. The Division of Unemployment Insurance will notify all individuals, by mail, who may qualify for the benefits provided under this legislation. This notice will provide specific instructions for filing a claim for your extension of unemployment insurance benefits.
Discrimination in Employment Regulations to Take Effect January 1, 2009
- In accordance with 19 Del. C. § 712(a)(2), Secretary Sharp has approved the final regulations to govern the Discrimination in Employment Administrative Process. The new regulations include requirements for filing and answering discrimination complaints; timetables and deadlines; and procedures for mediation, investigation, and conciliation. Wage and Hour
- Delaware's Wage Payment and Collection Act (19 Del. C. Chapter 11), Minimum Wage Act (19 Del. C. Chapter 9) and Discrimination in Employment Act (19 Del. C. Chapter 7) all have posting requirements. - The Department of Labor can
collect minimum wages on behalf of Delaware workers. The minimum wage
is $7.25 as of July 24, 2009.
