DELAWARE WORKFORCE INVESTMENT BOARD

Delaware's Workforce Investment Board
DWIB Chairman's Message

Welcome to the Delaware Workforce Investment Board (DWIB) Website.

This website will provide you with information about the Delaware Workforce Investment Board (DWIB). The Workforce Investment Act became law in 1998 and has as its cornerstone the One-Stop customer service delivery system. The DWIB has oversight for this system to ensure the citizens of Delaware are provided with occupational training and employment service opportunities to help them achieve employment that will sustain them and their families. Conversely, we seek to communicate with our business industry partners to provide them with qualified individuals to meet their employment needs. The DWIB also has a very active Youth Council that has oversight for programs designed specifically to help Delaware's at-risk and neediest youth prepare for the workforce.

One-Stop Centers are located within each of Delaware's Department of Labor locations (Wilmington, Pencader, Dover and Georgetown).

We hope that you find the information at our website helpful and if you have any questions, please feel free to contact the DWIB staff.

Thank you,

John McMahon, Chairman
Delaware Workforce Investment Board

Purpose of DWIB

The purpose of the Board is to provide workforce investment activities, through a statewide workforce investment system, that increases the employment, retention, and earnings of participants, and increases occupational skill attainment by participants, and as a result, improves the quality of the workforce, reduces welfare dependency, and enhances the productivity and competitiveness of the State.

Because our customers include the citizens of Delaware and businesses throughout our area, we have established an integrated system, leveraging technology and subject matter expertise, to bring job seekers and employers together using the Delaware Job Link, http://joblink.delaware.gov. This system allows employers to list job vacancies, screen posted resumes and get the latest information on wages and hiring trends; all at no cost. Job seekers can use the same system to look for jobs, post resumes and apply for vacancies. The goal is to bring employers and qualified job seekers together for the benefit of each, moving Delaware's economy forward.
